Currently Mother’s Voice Grassroots assists 148 orphans and vulnerable children on a daily basis. Speaking at the handover of the donation, founder of the trust Swart-Opperman said when her trust was approached by Scorpion Legal Protection for a donation of N$ 9 813-62, Mother’s Voice Grassroots was an obvious choice.
The history of the trust and Mothers Voice Grassroots goes back to 2005 when the shleter received food assistance as well as other support. “Mother’s Voice has always been close to my heart,” said Swart-Opperman.
The trust still provides monthly food to the value of N$1500 and prepaid electricity (N$250). Last year, 30 children benefited from the Winter Warmer Initiative together with Old Mutual Namibia to the value of N$10 000, and again this year 50 children benefited from the 2012 Winter Warmer Initiative.
One of the goals of the Trust is to involve business partners to increase impact and to enable the Trust to continue with the assistance. The Christina Swart-Opperman Aids Orphan Foundation Trust, launched in February 2003, has as its vision to contribute towards social reform in Namibia.
