Team Namibia and the University of Science and Technology’s FABlab debuted the second successful – ADDVENTURE business matchmaking event, under the theme, “Quest for New Business”, earlier in August.

The platform has been created in response to a business need expressed by local entrepreneurs, who require and request for facilitated access to business support facilities and consumer markets. The second ADDVENTURE event garnered support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation, NWR and FNB Namibia in order to make a truly memorable event for all involved.
The event which took place in Windhoek was well attended by key industry stakeholders and Team Namibia members, representing Government, industry, retail and private sectors. In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Tjama Tjivikua, Rector of the University of Science and Technology applauded the partnership between the two organisation’s and further showed his support for the ADDVENTURE platform as he pledged a group mentoring session with the world renowned innovator, Mr Pio Baronne Lumaga, to both the SPARK and CONNECT participants.
Mr David Namalenga, CEO of Dinapama, inspired the audience as he relayed his journey as an entrepreneur and motivated the SPARK and CONNECT entrepreneurs to work hard and follow their dreams.
The Keynote address from Mr. Lazarus Jacobs, motivated all entrepreneurs to have vision. “Start your business idea with what you have and what you know,” he emphasised. Following suit from Prof Tjivikua, Mr Jacobs also showed his support for local entrepreneurs by inviting them to a private mentoring workshop which he will be hosting in the next few months.
The participants included a total of five SPARKS (FABlab start-up innovators) and five CONNECTS (growth oriented SME’s) as well as nine ADDVENTURERS.
ADDVENTURE will be hosted on a quarterly basis, with one more event scheduled for this year.
