Renewed commitment and added strength for HAN

New member to the HAN Executive, Mr Shepherd Chinhoi, GM Operations at O&L Leisure Hotels & Lodges.

At the recent Annual General Meeting of the Hospitality Association of Namibia (HAN), the current National Chairman, Rudie Putter, and almost all Executive committee members indicated willingness and obtained full support of the membership to serve the association and industry in that capacity for another 2-year term, while the HAN Executive received added strength from the General Manager, Operations of O&L Leisure Hotels & Lodges, Shepherd Chinhoi.

The Hospitality Association of Namibia, the second-oldest and one of the biggest private sector tourism organisations and its newly elected Executive Committee have recommitted themselves to the promotion of Namibian tourism and efforts to ensure that Namibian tourism service providers stay abreast of ever-changing international demands and trends within the travel sector.
HAN Executive committee for 2015/17 is as follows: National Chairman: Rudie Putter (Kalahari Sands Hotel & Casino),Vice Chair /Congress: Janet Wilson Moore (Swakopmund Hotel & E-Centre/ Congress), Executive: Heidi Snyman (Schweizerhaus Hotel / Coast), Executive: Louis Nortje (Wilderness Safaris: lodge group/ conservancies), Executive: Mika Shapwanale (Ghaub /guest farms), Executive: Ruggero Micheletti (Nkasa Lupala lodge/conservancies), Executive: Mark Mücke (Namibia Reservations/website & IT) and Executive: Shepherd Chinhoi (new –O&L Leisure Hotels & Lodges)
This team will lead the Association through its second 5-year strategic plan, as well as prepare HAN for its 30th anniversary in 2017.
H.A.N is planning an exciting, high-level Tourism Congress and Trade Forum to be held on 27 & 28 November this year, – under the theme, “Organisational agility: How business can survive and thrive in turbulent times.”
The two day event will be hosted at the new Strand Hotel, of the O&L Leisure Hotels & Lodges, thereby at the same time celebrating the re-opening of that hotel, one of HAN’s founding members in 1987.
In 2017, H.A.N will be celebrating the 30th year of its existence, – and the current HAN Executive thus has the added task of ensuring that this association maintains and builds on its leading role in building professional tourism service suppliers in Namibia, for the international travel market.
