The Franco Namibian Cultural Centre’s event series “Dance Showcase Namibia” will feature a belly dance show by the Moon Goddess Dance Studio of Sascha Olivier-Sampson on Friday, 3 October.
Moon Goddess Dance Studio was established in 2008 by Sascha Olivier-Sampson. Sascha has been dancing for over 20 years in various genres including ballet, African and contemporary. She fell in love with belly dance in 2006 and has since become one of the well-known names in belly dance, having trained with and shared the stage with some of the leading names in International Oriental Dance. Moon Goddess Dance studio was opened with the intention to give women of all ages a place to express their femininity and have a space where they could learn and feel free to be themselves and find their inner Goddess.
Sascha hopes to familiarize audiences with the true beauty of belly dance, a graceful, feminine dance form with strong historical roots but reminiscent of all the different cultures that the gypsy spirit weaves through. Her show at the FNCC will highlight the various genres in bellydance, from the originating folkloric styles such as the Saaidi, to the more modern fusion and tribal fusion style.
