This Week In The Khuta – Doomsday for planet earth?

The beginning of each year is usually anticipated by most people as one that brings more opportunities, better business ventures and more luck in terms of personal growth and so forth.
In literature terms, it is referred to as ‘the budding of a flower’ – the beginning of something new. But this particular year started off with the fear, anxiety and doubt about whether the human race will continue to exist come the 21 December 2012.
Behind the 2012 end of the year prophecy is the Mayan calendar. This long count calendar has lasted for 5126 years and although the end of the world has too many interpretations, one of the most popular beliefs is that at the end of the cycle, the world (humanity’s existence) will come to an abrupt end on 21 December 2012.
The Mayan calendar or baktun, began on 13 August 3114 B.C. This marked the end of the last period and the beginning of the current one.
The baktun that we are currently living in, is the 13th and the end of this cycle has been considered to have a large level of importance to the Mayan people. This is why so many people have come to the conclusion that this cycle’s end is one that will mean the end of the world as we know it. While there is no definite proclamations of how the end of the world will happen, those who studied this calendar claim the long calendar was created in order to correspond with a long term astronomical prediction by the Mayan people.
Something else that has been considered, is that some planetary force outside of our galaxy, but through the power of our own sun, will cause the end .Some who have studied the 2012 prophecy combined this knowledge with an understanding of the solar system and concluded that the end of the world will be caused via a large flare.
This flare will come about because of the infiltration of the orbits of the planets in our solar system by an outside orbiting planet that the Sumerians and Babylonians referred to as Nibiru, also known to most scientist as Planet X. The studies states that when the body of Nibiru re-enters our system it will cause massive disruptions in the orbits of Jupiter, Uranus, Venus and Earth.
Remember the Y2K scare? So much madness occurred as people tried to prepare themselves for the new millennium. During this period, chaos seemed to be central. A lot of people went to the extent of cleaning out their accounts and spending all their life saving since they believed that they couldn’t take their riches with them to the grave. Doesn’t the whole ‘world coming to an end’ issue sound too overrated? What is striking, is the outrageous number of people who believe in this myth.
I personally feel all the prophecies about the ‘world coming to an end’ are bogus, plus I’ve heard of them one too many times. As a Christian, I believe in the verse “watch therefore, for you know neither the day, nor the time when the son of man will come” (Matthew 25:13).
I know that a lot of people are very superstitious about 2012 because of the fact that it’s a leap year and all the prophecies circulating don’t make it easy; as leap years are often related to events with pain, restlessness and misfortune. According to Chinese astrology, the year 2012 is referred to as ‘the year of the Dragon’. The dragon is the most powerful and auspicious of the twelve signs of zodiac and that is why it is often associated with high energies and prosperity.
It also symbolises courage, control and strength.
This year is especially auspicious because it is the year of the water dragon, something that happens once every sixty years. I am totally citing with the Chinese astrology when it comes to all the opportunities this year will bring.
2012 is a year where we as human beings need to self actualise and grow with all the opportunities presented to us. This year is dedicated to anybody who is ambitious and hard working. Luck is in your sphere so take advantage and realise your dreams (if you can dream it, you can live it…your limits are within you) dreams are free so utilise them, the sky is the limit.
Just for the record, No! The world is not coming to an end, instead it’s the beginning of the ‘new’ you. With all the positive energies and opportunities that will be within your reach, nothing can stop you. Whatever you believe in, and is followed by hard work will see you reaping the fruits of your labour. Be optimistic about life and remember: “Any fate facing us is not as important as our attitude towards it, for that determines our success or failure.”
