Trade expo boosts SMEs
The Erongo Trade Expo has become one of the main established supporters of small and medium enterprises in the Erongo region. In the next three years it will continue to support and promote SME’s with a NamPort sponsorship contract until 2013.
“With the majority of exhibitors at the Erongo Trade Expo being SMEs, the critical role which the small and medium business sector can play in the creation of employment and a robust economic growth for the region cannot be over emphasized,” said Lumumba Kathindi, executive: operations at NamPort, in his address on behalf of Bisey Uirab, CEO of NamPort.
His sentiments were underscored by Councillor Benson Uakumbua, Deputy Mayor of Walvis Bay, who called on stakeholders in the region to share business expertise to improve and stimulate the regional economy.
”The display of products and goods in such a professional way will certainly encourage a lot of people, even non-business minded people, to do some rethinking about their commercial skills. The growth in SME’s in the region is reflected in the increase in numbers of SME’s participating in the Expo,” said Uakumbua.
Since the launch of the Trade Fair in 2008 the exhibitors has increased from 50 to more than 170. The expo was held from 26 to 29 October.
