MTC is jacking up its customer service and spreading its support network wider to reach more users and to ensure that it maintains its strong market position when rival sister company, leo, starts its own marketing drive to win over disgruntled clients. The mobile giant this week commissioned its first Customer Support Centre. The new centre is situated at the corner of Dr Augostinho Neta and Rehobother Road at Auspannplatz.
According to MTC, this will be a dedicated one-stop shop that will offer data services support, sales, repairs and various specials as well as an increased variety of handsets for customers to experience and test the accessories before they buy or before they sign up for a data contract.
The centre will also serves as a technology hub, where a large selection of  new products will be displayed for the convenience of customers so that they can have a touch and feel experience while testing new devices.
The centre will serve as a one-stop information and technology centre where customers can obtain all product-related information in addition to actually using and trying out the options for data connectivity. MTC has undertaken to have available all the latest handsets to enable customers to make a comparison before choosing the device most appropriate for their neds.
The qualified data advisors at the centre will also assist customers with operating systems where the correct settings on laptops are essential to ensure reliable wireless connectivity for MMS and video calling. The advisors can also assist customer with any data-related query which includes amongst others data transfers, contact transfers and photo’s. They will also assist with Contract SIM card replacements as well as level one and two phone repairs such as software updates and speaker problems. MTC said for these typical problems they guarantee a same-day return of the phone “while you wait.”
Tim Ekandjo, Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Officer, said the objective behind the establishment of the Support Centre is to have a dedicated shop that caters solely for device-related problems especially data concerns given MTC’s evolution into mobile internet technologies.
“For the convenience of our customers, the centre will be helpful in alleviating traffic from our mobile homes and to serve as a convenient one-stop centre for all data and device-related services and to ensure that customers receive a satisfactory service level as well as a quick response time for their glitches”. Our data business is equally important to us and it was therefore necessary to have a dedicated Customer Support Centre with the emphasis on data queries,” Ekandjo said
Customers can also buy prepaid airtime and do contract payments with the vending machines that are in the shop and can browse the internet for free while doing business with MTC.
“MTC now has 27 Mobile Homes country wide. We will continue to expand our footprint in towns where we are not present yet as a means of bringing MTC’s services closer to its customers,” Ekandjo said
The trading hours for the Customer Support Centre are Mondays to Fridays 08:00 until 17:00 and on from 08:00 to 13:00 on Saturdays.
