Geingob endorses sale of Erindi to Mexican tycoon

The President, HE, Dr Hage Geingob welcomed Erindi Game Reserve prospective buyer, Alberto Baillères’ investment plans, and stated the importance of attracting responsible and committed foreign investment, during a courtesy visit by the Mexican tycoon in Windhoek.

The Mexican business man who is in the country, on Wednesday updated the President on his plans for Erindi in anticipation of the finalisation of the sale of the reserve.

Baillères detailed his plans to upgrade the reserve and safeguard the flora and fauna species of Erindi, while expanding ongoing conservation efforts.

The Erindi transaction is currently awaiting regulatory approval by the Namibian Competition Commission.
The next step is that all suspensive conditions that Baillères and the seller agreed upon are satisfied, before the sale can be concluded.

Meanwhile also present at the meeting was Minister of Land Reform, Utoni Nujoma, the Minister of Finance, Calle Schlettwein, Minister of Presidential Affairs, Martin Andjaba and the Attorney General, Dr Albert Kawana.
