Best Company to Work for survey launched

Deloitte has launched its Best Company to work for survey 2013.
The survey aims to identify and celebrate the best companies to work for across Namibia and southern Africa as rated by their employees. This is the third time Namibia is taking part in the survey.
The survey will cover both the employer as well as employees, and their response will be captured according to 10 dimensions; the sense of confidence in the organisation, organisation ethics and integrity, operational effectiveness, relationship with manager or supervisor, sense of inclusion in the organisation, overall job satisfaction, career development, work-life balance, performance and recognition and remuneration.
In the 2011 and 2012 surveys conducted in Namibia, all those dimensions scored improved year on year with the overall mean score increasing during this period from 3.80 to 3.94. The overall score indicates that, in general, the employment environment amongst participating companies in Namibia exceeds the Deloitte standard of excellence score of 3.70.

According to Hein Nienaber, Director of Human Capital at Deloitte South Africa, the ranking of perceived importance of the ten dimensions in Namibia showed significant movement year on year. Job satisfaction moved from ninth position to number one; sense of confidence moved from position six to third; manager/supervisor from tenth position  to fifth. Other dimensions moved downwards in importance, and these were: Work-life balance from fifth to tenth, career development from second position to seventh, performance and recognition, from third to sixth.
The survey is not limited to Namibia only, but also survey companies in Botswana and South Africa. The survey starts on 01 April with applications closing on 31 May. The Namibia Award function will be held in Windhoek on 26 September and individual company feedback will be provided between mid-October and mid-November.
