Every December we make new resolutions and are determined to become a healthier, a better, more centred, stress-free and relaxed person.

Usually we don’t succeed and slowly we fall back into our old routines and habits. Magazines, tv-programmes, friends, family and self-help books all make promises and conjure up visions of some form of spiritual enlightenment, peace or a feeling of well-being.

However, life, family, jobs and careers take over and the resolutions become difficult to hold onto. The changes required to one’s lifestyle are usually so drastic that it becomes impossible to maintain.

Whether you practise; meditation, a new diet, a new exercise regime, yoga or simply promised to get more sleep. All of these activities are a form of self-care, but they take real effort and are time-consuming and when it comes to diets, usually not great fun.

That is why in 2019, try a different way of recharging the body and mind in a way that is easy, effortless and has been proven as a concept and effective through numerous medical studies. One where we don’t force ourselves into a rigid new way of life that is alien to how we have lived up to that point. We do what is easy and comes natural to every human being. That’s where Transcendental Meditation (TM) comes in.

TM is an ancient form of meditation that has been practised for thousands of years. Millions of people around the world practise this simple form of meditation, and anyone over the age of 10 years can do it. It doesn’t require special clothes, a change in lifestyle and doesn’t demand or deny any or anyone’s religious faith. It fits in with your existing lifestyle and activities, which are perhaps already focused on mental and physical fitness. It’s an easy way of allowing the mind to settle into its most simple, relaxed state, accompanied by deep relaxation of the body. It’s an easy way of focusing the mind, naturally bringing you into a state of mind that relieves stress and has numerous other benefits, whatever age or level of fitness, or lack thereof.

This ancient Vedic form of meditation is described as a simple, natural, effortless meditation technique that doesn’t involve contemplation or concentration. One uses a mantra as a way of letting your mind settle down naturally and, ultimately, to transcend.

TM has been proven to reduce anxiety, stress and even has demonstrative health benefits, including cardiovascular health. This is certainly something that we can and all should embrace in 2019. What’s more, the fact that it is effortless and natural is very important.
