Two more classrooms help Auas Primary elementary learners avoid platooning

Pre-schoolers at Auas Primary School earlier this week took charge of two additional classrooms sponsored by the German Embassy in Windhoek to help relieve the burden of the double-shift system popularly known as platooning.
The Governor of the Khomas Region, Hon Laura McLead-Katjirua received the classrooms from the German Ambassador, HE Christian Schalag at a celebratory ceremony on Wednesday. Witnessing the event were the Chairman of the School Board, Mr Rudolg Gomusab, the Pastor of the New Creation Church, Rev Gerson Hoebeb, the Councillor for Katutura East, Mr Ruben Sheehama, the Chairperson of the Khomas Regional Council, Ms Rachel Jacobs, the Director of Education, Mr Gerard Vries and the school’s principal, Ms Linea Beautty Joel.

Adding two more classrooms to the elementary section of Auas Primary is another step to improve the school’s operations by relieving the pressure on both the morning and the afternoon school shift. Two pre-school classes can study now exclusively in the mornings where experience has shown that concentration is highest.

The N$320,000 investment was described by the German Embassy as a contribution to an improved learning environment to help children successfully start their school career at elementary level.
