ECB boss appointed as Rössing Uranium chairperson

Rössing Uranium Limited’s Managing Director, Werner Duvenhage announced recently that the Rössing Board of Directors has appointed Foibe Louise Namene as its new chairperson, effective from 1 December.

Duvenhage said, “We welcome Mrs Namene as the board’s new chairperson. It will be a great privilege to be working with her in steering the future of the business.”

Namene has been a member of the Rössing board since March 2016 and also serves as a director on various company boards in Namibia.

Her current position is Chief Executive Officer of the Electricity Control Board (ECB) after joining the ECB as chief legal advisor in 1996.

Amongst other qualification Namene holds a master degree in Economic Law (LLM) from the University of Namibia, obtained in 2006.

Namene is taking over from Mr Johannes !Gawaxab as chairperson who informed the board in October this year that he intended to resign from the board in order to focus on other business commitments. He remained on as chairperson until such time that a successor was appointed.
