Gawaxab steps down as Social Security Board Chairman

The Social Security Commission (SSC) of Namibia announced that Johannes !Gawaxab has officially resigned from his more than-two-year position as chairman of the Board of Commissioners, effective 30 September.

In his statement, at an all staff meeting at the SSC Headquarters, !Gawaxab said the reason for his resignation is to give exclusive attention to his business interests, and felt that attempting to juggle both his business ventures and the SSC’s responsibilities would only result in a disservice to all.

SSC’s Executive Officer, Milka Mungunda, praised the outgoing board’s chairman, !Gawaxab for his wisdom and participative leadership style that has fruitfully expedited new strategic reforms at the Social Security Commission.

The current Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners, Dr. Shitaleni Herman, will assume the role of the outgoing chairman for the remainder of the serving term of the entire Board of Commissioners, which ends December this year.
