Support local actors, go watch, ‘The Porridge Queen’ play

The Committed Artists of Namibia (CAN) will be showcasing “The Porridge Queen Play” on 2 September at 18:00 at the FNCC and tickets cost N$150.

The fund raising event will see the proceeds go towards the overseas studies of a junior female actor from CAN, Zenlia Philander.

The one hour long satire ‘The Porridge Queen’, takes the audience on an interesting journey through present day Namibia and it is insightful, though provoking and entertaining.

Handjievol is the main character selling porridge on a street corner in Independence Avenue to make a living.

The Artists association has encouraged the public not to lose out on the opportunity to be entertained with outstanding contemporary theatre, written and directed by theatre practitioner, Frederick Philander and contributing towards the future of an actor who will be an ambassador to Namibia and its people.

According to the organisers, buying a ticket for the play will automatically enters one for a raffle draw that will take place during the same event, where ten prizes can be won ranging from a weekend for two at any of a wide range of well know tourist destinations, to a dinner for six, smart devices and more.
