Foschini Group adds more to education investment

The Foschini Group  last week indicated that their donation to the SOS Children’s Villages Namibia and other schools is blossoming. The group added an additional N$500,000 to the project which is to be used to maintain and improve the current educational standards in the beneficiary schools.

The project targeted 250 primary and 400 high school learners as part of the SOS Education Empowerment Project to improve the pupils academic performance.

Bizcommunity, publicists for Foschini said on their website that the project improves educational standards by enhancing teaching methods and developing optimal school conditions which enhances the quality of educational opportunities for socially disadvantaged children.

Foschini’s N$1,000,000 investment in the SOS Education Empowerment Project’s is aimed towards improved quality of life. According to them, A.Shipena High School, one of the recipients is testimony, as the academic results for Grade 10 and 12 learners’ show an improvement on their ranking on a regional level.

Another recipient, Otjomuise Primary School also improved its literacy rate within the grade 0-3 range as well an improved it access to computers as 130 children from Grade 4-7 have benefitted.

“We are exceptionally happy and overwhelmed by the success of this project within such a short period. We believe that the success can be attributed to the hard work that SOS Children’s Villages has done to ensure that this project is effective. We are especially proud of the teachers and learners, well done to all involved!,” Foschini Corporate Social Investment Manager, Mymoena Mooradd said.

The group consists of 20 diverse retail brands; @home, @homelivingspace, American Swiss, Charles & Keith, Colette, Donna, Duesouth, Exact, Fabiani, The FIX, Foschini, G-star Raw, hi, Markham, Mat & May, Phase Eight, SODA Bloc, sportscene, Sterns and Totalsports.
