DHPS signs agreement for new gymnasium

Mr Conville Britz (seated right) and Mr Niels Serrer (seated left) signed an agreement with the German Foreign Office on behalf of the Deutsche Höhere Privatschule (DHPS) in Windhoek for the extension and upgrading of the school’s gymnasium. Representing the German Government is the German Ambassador, HE Christian Schlaga, seated in the middle.

The agreement was witnessed by the principal of DHPS, Mrs Kristin Eichholz (standing right).

The German Foreign Office has made available more than N$17 million to turn the DHPS gym into one of the most modern sport facilities in the country.

The new gymnasium is scheduled for inauguration in 2018, enabling the DHPS to be an excellent host for the next Sports Olympiad of all German schools in southern Africa.

Ambassador Schlaga wished the DHPS success with the project congratulating them on their second place at the DAS Learning and Living Together competition held by the German Government. The DHPS was chosen as the best German school abroad in the category “Social Inclusion”.

“This success shows once more that the school rightly carries the award of “Excellent German School Abroad” by the Federal Republic of Germany since 2011” he said.

This award to the school was recently confirmed by an inspection by officials of the German Government.

The Deutsche Höhere Privatschule is part of the 140 German schools supervised by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA) by order of the Federal Foreign Office and with input of the German Federal States. The ZfA supports the schools with personnel as well as financial and pedagogic resources and accompanies the schools on their path to quality-oriented school development.
