First Lady visits Oranjemund

Namdeb Diamond Corporation supported Oranjemund Private School’s current Learners’ Representative Council last week to host Namibia’s First Lady, Madam Monica Geingos.
The First Lady was invited by the learners council to address them as keynote speaker at a fundraising gala dinner themed “A Night of Inspiration.”
Not being a regular to Oranjemund, Madam First Lady used the opportunity to visit Namdeb’s operations.
“As part of her visit itinerary, the First Lady toured Namdeb’s state-of-the-art recovery and sorting facility, the Red Area Complex (RAC). Whilst at RAC, Madam Geingos was given a high level overview of the facility’s operations by the RAC Manager, Wollen Nell and was introduced to some of the employees. The highlight of her tour was an opportunity to view some diamonds in the sorthouse” Namdeb said in a statement announcing the royal visit.
“[The] Red Area Complex is illustrative of Namdeb’s ethos to continuously innovate and create long-term value for employees, stakeholders and Namibia at large.“
“The First Lady was particularly impressed with the innovation and technological advancements employed by Namdeb to ensure greater efficiency and sustainability of operations.”
Madam Geingos said as she applauded Namdeb on advancing Namibian females to occupy senior technical and leadership positions within a male-dominated industry, “Wollen’s story has not been shared enough, I was particularly impressed by her journey and the way she interacts with her people to ensure team collaboration.”

Today the Typesetter is a position at a newspaper that is mostly outdated since lead typesetting disappeared about fifty years ago. It is however a convenient term to indicate a person that is responsible for the technical refinement of publishing including web publishing. The Typesetter does not contribute to editorial content but makes sure that all elements are where they belong. - Ed.
