Striving for Peace and Stability in Africa

The African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) this week held its two-day annual retreat in Windhoek under the theme Terrorism, Mediation and Armed Groups.

Former Heads of State, members of the diplomatic corps as well as other AU delegates converged on the Windhoek Country Club Resort on Wednesday to discuss pertinent issues and solutions regarding peace and stability in Africa. Delegates said the retreat was a unique opportunity for Africans to critically examine their respective and collective experiences in mediating conflict and facilitating negotiations in today’s complex environments, which have been rendered more daunting due to the emergence of terrorism as a major exacerbating factor.
