Beukes axed as NAMCOR MD

Samuel BeukesExactly a year after the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) board suspended its former MD to allow for an independent audit into the activities of the loss making parastatal, the Minister of Mines and Energy has wielded the axe on Samuel Beukes.
In a statement, board chairperson, Siseho Simasiku said following a disciplinary inquiry that concluded on 8 August 2011 and in the interest of the company, the Inquiry Committee recommended dismissal as Beukes was found guilty on several charges.
The NAMCOR Board confirmed the recommendations of the Inquiry Committee and referred the recommendations to the Minister of Mines and Energy lsak Katali for consideration and possible confirmation.
“After due consideration, Honourable lsak Katali, endorsed the recommendations from the Inquiry
Committee and the board dismissed Beukes as managing director of NAMCOR effective 4 November 2011,” the statement said.
