Installation of jig plant at Otjozondu mine

State of the art jig at Otjozondu.

The recent installation and commissioning of a jig plant at the Otjozondu mine commenced two weeks ago.

It is expected to take up to four weeks to complete trials and optimise programming for various ore types and grade profiles. Observations from the first trials indicate beneficiation on the jig beds is extremely efficient and both product grade and yield exceeded expectations.
Trial mining at the three Labusrus pits to a depth of 5 metres as planned has been completed and the material intended for beneficiation through the new plant has been stockpiled.
Since the start of operations in late 2014, over 3,000 tonnes of lumpy manganese ore has been shipped while a further 1,100 tonnes is currently in transit.
