Signed, sealed and delivered: From left to right: Beryl R diger of Von Baum’s, Pupkewitz Motor Division MD, Ekkerd van Wyk; Pupkewitz Group MD, Jerome Davis, Von Baum’s owner, Georg R diger and Chairperson of the Motor Division Board, Junior Bruwer earlier this week at the purchase of Von Baum’s Motors by the Pupkewitz Motor Division.

The Pupkewitz Group of Companies announced earlier this week the purchase of Von Baum’s Motors in Otjiwarongo by the Pupkewitz Motor Division (PMD). This deal effectively gives the motoring division access to its first Volkswagen dealership, a marque the division has coveted for years.
The addition of the legendary Volkswagen dealership to the Group’s expertise in the motor trade is considered a natural step by the division, who expressed its confidence in expanding to the northern regions of Namibia with a trusted partner.
According to Pupkewitz Group Managing Director, Jerome Davis, Von Baum’s has a solid reputation of good business acumen and quality service delivery built over the past 50 years. He said, “The business history of Von Baum’s is indeed commendable and is a natural fit into Pupkewitz’s historic tradition of customer satisfaction through service excellence.”
Earlier this year Von Baum’s arrived at the 50 year mark in its history and according to Georg R diger, the owner, “the next step is to ensure that Von Baum’s keeps going for the next 50 years and the Pupkewitz Motor Division is the perfect partner.”
Managing Director of Pupkewitz Motor Division, Ekkerd van Wyk said the successful merging of these two legends would have made Mr. Harold Pupkewitz proud. “I consider it an honour and a perfect birthday present to welcome Von Baum’s to our existing circle of excellence, on this day.”

“We strive to be the employer of choice in the motor vehicle sector and a recent internal survey indicated that the vast majority of our employees are delighted to work at Pupkewitz Motor Division.
These results should serve as an encouraging welcome to our new family of employees,” he added.
Klaus von Baum, a motor mechanic by profession, and his wife Anneliese, opened Von Baum Motors in Otjiwarongo on 01 February 1961 and despite various setbacks, Von Baum’s Motors was granted a direct franchise by Volkswagen in 1965, which lead to the opening of a branch in Tsumeb.
“After tough negotiations, Von Baum’s Motors was given the green light to continue flying the Volkswagen banner. Soon after, Mr. Von Baum won the coveted Gold Pin Award of Volkswagen as testament to his faith in and involvement with the brand, said current owner Georg R diger.
The business has gone from strength to strength, and has picked up numerous awards for customer service as well as having the honour of being named part of the Volkswagen Club of Excellence six times.
