Putter to serve on a panel of experts in Geneva

The National Chairman of the Hospitality Association of Namibia, Rudie Putter, is one of eight selected global employers serving on a panel of experts to adopt Guidelines on Decent Work and Socially Responsible Tourism.

The meeting is called by the International Labour Organisation and will be held at the ILO in Geneva from 20-24 February.

The purpose of the meeting is to review and adopt guidelines on decent work and socially responsible tourism to encourage the hotels, catering, tourism sector, its stakeholders and social partners to foster social responsibility and strengthen decent work, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the post-2015 development agenda.

Eight Employer experts, eight Government experts and eight Worker experts have been invited to participate in the elaboration of these guidelines. Mr Putter will be joined by Top tourism experts from, Croatia, Kuwait, Peru, Spain, Netherlands and Zambia to formulate views of employers at global level.

The selection of participants was based on the qualifications of the candidates, but also on a fair geographical balance that reflects the IOE’s global membership. The selected Employer delegates will have the opportunity – unique in some cases – to familiarise themselves with the ILO, its working methods and the respective policy positions of employers, workers and governments from around the world.
