New GIZ Country Director arrives

The GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) earlier this month announced the arrival of their new Country Director, Mr Albert Engel. The current Country Director, Dr Friedrich von Kenne, reached the end of his term on 31 October.
Engel worked as Deputy Director General at the GIZ Sector Department in Germany, where he was responsible for Rural Development, Agriculture, Environment and Climate Change. He is no newcomer to Namibia. Between 2003 and 2008 he was based in Windhoek and worked as Sector Coordinator for Land Reform and Natural Resource Management. He holds an M Sc in agronomy from the University of Göttingen and postgraduate degrees in international rural / agricultural development from the Technical University Berlin and Cornell University in New York. The GIZ in Namibia emloys 55 national staff members, 23 seconded staff members, 24 development workers and 17 Integrated Experts.
