The ‘Vulture’ has landed

Earlier this week, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Namibia Airports Company, Tamer El-Kallawi extended a warm welcome to the first Condor flight which touched down at Hosea Kutako International Airport on Monday.
El-Kallawi pledged his company’s support for this new airline and said “In line with our Turnaround Strategy we have committed ourselves to providing World Class Airport Services. In this regard we will ensure that all our airports abide by the highest safety and security standard so that our clients have an exhilarating experience at all our airports especially at Hosea Kutako.”

He said that the critical role which airports play in national development could not be over emphasised, “The Airports Company wishes to state our unwavering support to the achievement of NDP 4 goals and vision 2017 by announcing the completion of the following key projects: Ondangwa Airport terminal due for completion in February 2015, Rehabilitation of the Ondangwa Airport runway, Walvis Bay Airport terminal due for completion in July 2015, Construction of the perimeter fencing at Walvis Bay and Lüderitz Airports,11 fire trucks to arrive by November 2014 and the scanners for the airports are due for arrival in 2015.” El-Kallawi advised that these projects and others demonstrate the airports company’s commitment to make Namibia an international air transportation hub. “In line with the key lessons learnt during the International Civil Aviation Organization Coordinated Validated Mission (ICVM) audit we are delighted to announce that our staff has undergone intensive training in aviation safety and security to boost the depth and scope of our operations.”
He emphatically conveyed the message to all airlines that Hosea Kutako will continue to strive to provide a safe and secure environment for all airlines to do business. “We wish to state that all airlines and their passengers that use our facilities must expect a high standard of service.”
