Entries open for next year’s NAMAs

The Namibian Annual Music Awards and the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation announced on Wednesday, 12 November that the entries for the 2015 NAMA are now open, The closing date is on 15 December 2014. The NAMA’s will be held on 01 and 02 May 2015.
Tim Ekandjo, MTC’s Chief of Human Capital and Corporate Affairs said artist can download the entry form from the official NAMA entry system or collect entry forms from MTC or NBC offices. The entry forms can be completed online or the printed form and the accompanying CDs can be delivered to MTC or NBC offices. He added that artist who want to enter for the 2015 edition of the NAMAs, should have released a commercial album between 1 December 2013 and 31 November 2014 and that entry rules remain the same as last year.

The 2015 NAMAs will have two new categories, which are the Best Musical Event, which the public will vote for on the opinion of what they view or believed to be the best musical event by means of organization, planning, attendance, quality and delivery standards. The other new category for 2015 will be Best Song with a Message, where the judges vote for what they believe is a song that has an inspirational message to society and artist should motivate and submit the lyrics of the song.
The prize money for the Best Female and Male categories has increased form N$50,000 to N$100,000 and the other categories are still under review. Possible venues are Swakopmund and Ongwediva who have shown interest in hosting the NAMAs, therefore the technical teams of the organizers are assessing both town’s infrastructure.
