Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) recently hosted a fundraising evening in aid of the Welwitschias National Rugby Team’s participation at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
NBL handed over a total of N$600,000 to the Namibia Rugby Union which will go towards enabling the national rugby team to attend the Rugby World Cup in England in 2015 as well as the warm-up games to prepare for the World Cup.
The amount is made up of a N$100,000 cash donation which was raised during the fundraising event that was graced by the likes of Toks Van Der Linde, Joost van Der Westhuizen and Corné Krige. An amount of N$350,000 will go for the purchasing of a training kit that the team will use in their preparation games leading up to the world cup; and N$150,000 for the broadcasting rights on DSTV to enable Namibians to follow the team through their matches.
The Welwitschias’ kicked-off their warm-up on a high note with their 58-20 victory against Germany on Wednesday. NBL is confident that they will continue to make Namibia proud on their upcoming European tour and ultimately at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
