Swimming gala on this weekend

After the first successful Bank Windhoek Long Course swimming gala that was held in Tsumeb earlier in October, the gala will now move over to Windhoek for the rest of the long course season this weekend.
Up to 112 swimmers with a total of 822 splashes have entered for this gala, which will take place at the Western Suburbs swimming pool in Khomasdal on 31 October and Saturday, 1 November.
This gala will serve as a building phase for Zanrè Oberholzer, Toni Roth, Sonja Adelaar and Daniela Lindemeier, who will be participating in the World Short Course Championships in Doha, Qatar early in December, as well as, the participants of the African Union Sports – Region 5 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe on 9 December.
Upcoming young swimmers such as Carissa Esslinger, Heleni Stergiadis, Corne Le Roux, Ronan Wantenaar, Zune Weber and Rene Viljoen will participate in this gala. Some good swims are expected with a lot of personal bests in the pipeline, as swimmers chase down Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 qualifying times for South African swimming galas.

The gala will start on Friday at 15:00 and will continue on Saturday at 08:30. The public are invited to attend and support the swimmers as they compete in this event. This will be the last LC gala at the Western Suburbs swimming pool for 2014 and the venue will thereafter be changed to the municipal swimming pool in Olympia.
