Elnatan Private School dominates NTTA tourney

Overall winners at the NTTA Inter-School Championship that was for the first time hosted in the Hardap Region last weekend.

Stampriet played host to the annual FNB Inter-schools Table Tennis Championships to determine the best school teams for boys and girls where 13 bona-fide school teams took part in the Hardap Region last weekend. Despite a few late withdrawals, most of the top players arrived in Stampriet at the Elnatan Private School. From the onset the home teams, comprising three sibling pairs, made their intentions clear.
The girls final was between Holy Cross Convent Primary School and Elnatan Private School. Elnatan played out of their skins to secure the gold. First it was Karla Burger and Ciara Thorburn (Elnatan) who accounted for Jana Hein and Tanya Masters (Holy Cross Convent) in the doubles, then Anja Steenkamp (Elnatan) played her best match ever to beat Namibia u/18 number 1 seed, Kaitlyn Beukes (Holy Cross Covent), for the winning point. In the boys division the top-seeded DHPS team had to settle for third position after beating Mariental High School in the play-off for 3rd place. They earlier lost to Rehoboth High School.

The final was between Rehoboth High School and Elnatan Private School. Ronaldo Vogel (Rehoboth High School) managed to beat top-seeded PW Steenkamp (Elnatan). The final match of the day was between Danco Burger (Elnatan) and Aldrin Goliath (Rehoboth High School).
Burger emerged the winner over Goliath as he claimed the last match in straight sets to secure the win for Elnatan. It was the home team consisting of Polla Thornburn, Danco Burger and PW Steenkamp who ensured a double-gold for the home team.
