Major sponsors boost tech tour

The AMPION Venture Bus technology tour that is en route to Windhoek has received support from major international companies that include Microsoft, MTN, SAP, Merck and Inmarsat.
On 7 November, the bus will depart Harare to Gaborone and then Windhoek before reaching its final  destination in Cape Town.
AMPION’s Co-founder Jan Schafft said,“Leading global IT, healthcare and satellite giants join forces with AMPION to enable entrepreneurial talent in Africa to develop innovative solutions on the continent by making best use of the power of mobile technology.”
Microsoft will provide a package of free software and training to winning start-ups, while global healthcare leader Merck will be AMPION’s prime sponsor for the East African Venture Bus as the participants on the Venture Bus travelling from Tanzania to Rwanda will focus on developing
e-Health solutions.

Inmarsat will  provide free hardware and bandwidth with satellite connectivity to the AMPION Venture Bus, while SAP a world leader in enterprise applications in terms of software and software-related service revenue will cover their field of expertise.

The AMPION Venture Bus will cross four southern African countries, connecting tech hubs, investors, business people and start-up enthusiasts along the way including Windhoek in a quest to develop innovative solutions to local challenges.
