The Fashion Council of Namibia (FCN) was formed with the aim to represent, develop, support and grow the Namibian Fashion sector as well as to establish and maintain a code of ethics. As part of the FCN initiatives for 2014, the Emerge Fashion Show will showcase an array of Namibian Fashion Designers. The fashion show is a platform for young and established Namibian Designers to showcase their work to the Namibian market on a professional and well-organized level.
The Namibian Fashion sector has shown an eagerness to develop its clothing (apparel manufacturing) capacities, but efforts have been frustrated by a lack of infrastructure, capital, local and export markets. Production in Namibia is insufficient and forces designers to produce exclusive garments making it expensive and only available to a selective Namibian consumer.

The success of Namibian designers on the international scene has shown that given the right opportunities, Namibian designers can compete on the booming African and world stage. The Emerge Fashion Show aims to be a marketing tool to attract potential investors to develop the Namibian sector through a larger platform like the Namibian Fashion Week.
The Emerge Fashion Show will showcase 15 young and established Namibian Fashion and Jewellery Designers. They have all been asked to produce small collections of 6 garments that are a true representation of their design aesthetics. These designers include: Attila Giersch, Beata Hamalwa, Chakirra Claasen, Cobus Moller, Cynthia Schimming, Don Jaco Kotze, Jaimee-Lee Diergaardt, Jamie-Lee Ford, Lafika Joyce, Leah Misika, Maria Caley, Mc Bright Kavari, Melissa Poulton, Simone Henrichsen and Taati Sibolile.
The National Arts Council and the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre have made the event possible through sponsorship. All fashion enthusiasts, buyers, and investors are eagerly invited to attend this event and milestone on the Namibian Fashion Calendar.
