Only very special employees stay 40 years

Damian Munyala has just established a new record. This week his employer, Kraatz in Walvis Bay honoured him for a 40-year career that started with cleaning and eventually took him to a technical position as lathe operator and turner. Tate Damian’s father, who also worked for Kraatz Marine for 11 years, arranged for him to apply for a job in 1974.  “I travelled for a whole day by train from Grootfontein to Walvis Bay to hand in my application” he said. He started as a cleaner but under seasoned journeyman, Hans Rudy he was trained how to operate the machines. We worked together for about six years.” Tate Damian remembers visits from the previous Ohlthaver & List board chairman, Mr Werner List who always had time for him and motivated him to continue with his important work.  Joining Tate Damian to celebrate his tremendous career are, from the left, Jurgen Bohmcker (Procurement Manager), Jerry van Niekerk (Workshop Manager), Dirk van Niekerk (Kraatz Managing Director) Ndemufayo Mbwaalala (Human Capital Manager) and Nakkie Ebersohn (Financial Manager).
