Jazz Festival coming soon

The City of Windhoek launched the 2014 Windhoek Jazz Festival on 13 August at the Namibia Breweries factory premises. The Jazz Festival will be held at the Hage Geingob Stadium on 15 November 2014. At this week’s launch, the City also announced the local and international artists who will perform at the festival.
The international artists are Freshly Ground and the local artist will be Shishani, Erna Chimu, Mr Bones, Big Ben, Essence and Uncle. Councillor John Moonde said in a speech on behalf of Her Worship the Mayor, Agnes Kafula, that Jazz music in its various genres in Namibia has proven to be a growing brand which many people relate to. Moonde emphasized the importance of music as a universal language that can unite people across cultures. Its unifying power could be attested with the successes of the Windhoek Jazz Festival over the years since inception.

“Jazz music in its various genres has indeed proven to be a growing brand of which many of us are able to relate to. Thus the hosting of the Windhoek Jazz Festival continues to significantly contribute to elevating Windhoek’s status as a vibrant city, both culturally and artistically”, he said on behalf of the mayor. The Windhoek Jazz Festival is organised by the City of Windhoek with the support of its sponsors, Old Mutual, Windhoek Lager, Air Namibia, 99 FM, Jameson, Adforce and the National Arts Council.  The stadium gates will be open from 16:00 and tickets are available at Computicket outlets countrywide at a cost of N$250 in advance. No tickets will be sold at the gate.
