Vivo Energy Namibia, the company that markets and distributes Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, tested their crisis and response preparedness to an emergency situation held last week.
Vivo Energy Namibia Managing Director, Johan Grobbelaar, said this exercise re-iterated Vivo Energy’ commitment and focus on safety. The high standards Vivo Energy applies are the same as the world-class Shell standards.  Our goal is to lead by example and set a new benchmark for safety policies and practices.  This commitment is fundamental, enduring and non-negotiable, and is an integral and essential part of our business plan,” Grobbelaar said.

“At Vivo Energy Namibia, we are committed to achieving and maintaining the highest international Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) standards. It is against this background that Vivo Energy Namibia simulated an emergency situation to test the company’s response to a crisis.”he said
The Disaster Risk Management Division of the City of Windhoek has been part of preparations.  Other members of the oil industry also participated in the simulation. Iscor Street in Northern Industrial, Windhoek was closed off for the duration of the simulation which saw the Namibian Police and the traffic department fully evacuate staff in the depot and surrounding areas.
