Breeders cash in on quality

A successful information day and auction was presented by Bonsmara breeders and Agra last week at the Agra auction facilities in Otjiwarongo.
Wilhelm Mosehuus, Agra’s regional coordinator for Livestock in the northern region said,  “the quality of the animals on offer at the Top Ten Bonsmara auction was the best ever” and “we are very happy with another successful auction and our clients being satisfied with Agra’s service and facilities.”

At the annual Top Ten Bonsmara auction, 33 selected Bonsmara bulls were sold at an average price of N$32,848 and a highest price of N$60,000 for a bull of Jörg Sigwart. A total of 112 selected stud and commercial heifers were sold at an average price of N$6,546, achieving up to N$12,000 per animal, paid for four heifers of Ernie de Fries. The breeders: Ben & Corlia Mouton of Wagner Bonsmaras, Edward Hansen of Emok Bonsmaras, Dries Venter of Tsaus Bonsmaras, Jörg Sigwart of Okamaja Bonsmaras, Stokkies von Dewitz of Stokkies Bonsmaras, Hella and Streicher Coetzee of Hochfeldstreek Bonsmaras, Volker Kreft of Omuronga Bonsmara and EE de Fries of Ondoka Bonsmaras were very happy with the outcome of the auction.
