Omeya opens golf academy

Omeya Golf and Residential Oasis will officially open its state of the art Golf Academy this Friday. The Academy will allow golfers and those who wish to learn to play the game of golf to perfect their skills.
Facilities such as club fitting, shaft fitting, ball fitting, flightscope ball & shaft analysis, swingview swing analysis and state of the art training facilities, as well as a driving range have all been incorporated into the Omeya design.
According to Omeya’s public relations campaign, the academy is one of the best facilitates of its kind in Africa and will thrill golf enthusiasts and encourage non-golfers to start playing the game.
In a brief interview with the Economist, Francois Hanekom said that although the Academy will be opened on Friday, the training will only start in 2012.
“We have not yet started registering people, we are starting with registration on Monday but only for the year 2012,” he said.
According to Hanekom, costs of the academy includes joining fees of N$1700, monthly fees of N$700 for the use of the golfing facilities plus membership of a year.
Over 150 residents are expected to attend the opening of the Omeya Golf Academy which is situated 30km south of Windhoek. Omeya has partnered with TransNamib to take all the guests by train to the Academy for the opening.
The general public and golf enthusiasts can visit the Golf Academy as from 12 November 2011.
