New pharmaceutical products launched

Fabupharm Products, a wholly-owned Namibian pharmaceutical manufacturer, said that they will be launching new products on to the market during the course of the year at a press conference held earlier on Wednesday at Nice Restaurant, in Windhoek.
Carl Brinkmann, Sales Director at Fabupharm Products Brinkmann announced that the new products to be launched on to the market would include the Suplimax Charcoal Capsules, Suplimax Joint Pain Relief, Suplimax Fibrelle Capsules, the Ideal for Baby range and the FabupharmPlus cream range.
Fanie Badenhorst, Managing Director at Fabupharm said,“The products are a 100% locally pharmaceutical manufactured and in the last financial year Fabupharm’s revenue grew by 57%, due to investment in the manufacturing plant and the number of employees has since grown from 35 to 65.”

Fabupharm plan to invest in new equipment and upgrade the old equipment, and  they will mainly focus on replacing the High Performance Liquid Chromatograph, which is essential laboratory equipment. Other areas which they will upgrade and extend are the heat, ventilation and air handling system as well as the bottling plant and the water purification plant.
“Fabupharm distributes its products to retailer such as Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay and Woermann & Brock, we also sell to all private pharmacies, pharmaceutical wholesalers and informal markets like Cuca shops, but unfortunately entities like Clicks, JetMart, Edgars and Ackerman’s are not buying Fabupharm products”, said Brinkmann.
Fabupharm Products was registered in 1989 and is currently the only Namibian manufacturing facility to produce medicinal products  by receiving an Official Manufacturing GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) license from the Namibian Medicines Regulatory Council (NMRC) and it is regularly being inspected by the Registrar of Medicines of the Ministry of Health and Social Services. Fabupharm Products is a member of the Namibian Manufacturer’s Association (NMA).
