New Washington Fellows

Nine young leaders depart next week to their respective host universities in the United States for an eight-week internship under their designated mentors. Petrina Auino, Piet Carstens, Gregory Feris, Elizabeth Hamupembe, Tomas Kalimbo, Rachel Kalipi, Paskaline Ngunaihe, Beata Shemuvalula and Fransina Shivute attended a ceremony last week with Priscilla Hernandez, U.S. Embassy Acting Deputy Chief of Mission and Public Affairs Officer (seated centre). The nine selected young leaders distinguished themselves by articulating, in written essays and personal interviews, what they have done to shape the narrative of their country, to lead initiatives in their fields of study or work, and to develop their communities.
