Standard Bank Namibia launched the 2014 Auto Show on this week at the Old Wheelers Club, Olympia. The Standard Bank Auto Show will be held on 04 and 05 July 2014 at the SKW Sports Fields in Olympia. The theme for this years Standard Bank Auto Show is “Start your Engine” and is expected to host 32 participating local dealerships. The Auto Show is an important complementary event to the annual Biltongfees. At last year’s show, the bank arranged deals exceeding N$40 million.
Mr Wim Lötter, Head Vehicle and Asset Finance at Standard Bank Namibia said that looking back at the previous Standard Bank Auto Shows, the event has gone from strength to strength. Back in 2006 the show attracted 9389 people, during 2009 the show attracted 11 234 people, during 2011 the show attracted 15,500 people and last year the number grew to 17,155 visitors. This year they expect 20,000 people, said Mr Lötter.
Mr Junius Mungunda, the new Standard Bank Chief Executive said that based on last year’s success of the show with a total revenue value of N$42 million, he is optimistic that this year’s show will exceed their expectations. The objective of the show is to create a platform for selected dealers, suppliers and stakeholder in the market, to create awareness to interested potential buyers and is also an opportunity for motor vehicle dealers to show their products under one roof, said Mungunda.

Visitors to the show can look forward to a number of side attractions that will include entertainment by leading Namibian and South African artist, displays of the latest vehicles on a rotating turn table for customers to see, displays of “Old Wheelers” and trucks, entertainment for the children and various other activities that normally go with the Biltongfees. Standard Bank will be rewarding the outstanding performance of dealers who have worked in partnership with them with an all-expenses paid trip to the Paradise Island in Thailand later this year.  The bank provides the Auto Show platform at no cost to the dealers and participation is absolutely free.
