“This can change our lives forever“ said two University of Namibia students upon winning internships to a German company specialising in process safety in industrial applications.
Anna Fotolela and Kustaa Kakunanganda had to compete against other students during a rigorous selection process to qualify for the 4-week internships with REMBE GmbH. This week the two successful students received their certificates from German Ambassador, Mr. Onno HĂĽckmann. The internships include all travel, accommodation and sustenance expenses.
The idea of a work-based scholarship programme at REMBE was proposed by the German Department at the University of Namibia. Students who study German as a supplementary subject and aspire to careers in business, are eligible for the selection process.

REMBE manager, Mrs Annette Häger, highlighted the enormous contribution of medium-sized companies to Germany’s economic success.
REMBE® GmbH SAFETY u CONTROL, founded in 1973, is an independent, privately-owned family business with more than 120 employees at its headquarters in Brilon, Hochsauerland and possesses more than 40 years’ experience of applications in all industries worldwide. Numerous REMBE developments in the field of process safety and explosion protection have been patented.
This internship is undoubtedly the door to a new world for the two Namibian students; not only through their stay in Germany, which for Kustaa will be her first trip abroad, but to be involved in the daily function of a German company will be a completely new experience for them both: “We have the unique opportunity to gain work experience abroad, this is so exciting” exclaimed both Kustaa and Anna.
