Sanlam Investment Management announced this week it has increased its sponsorship of the annual Careers Expo to N$100,000 to enable the organisers to host a substantive event for the 4000 learners that are expected to visit.
This year’s Careers Expo takes place on 27 May at the Windhoek Country Club Resort. Sanlam Investment Management increased its sponsorship from N$70,000 to N$100,000.
Chief Executive of Sanlam Investment Management, Tega Shiimi ya Shiimi, emphasized the importance of company support for such initiatives to help its future leaders. “Sanlam Investment Management has been a leading sponsor for the past four years and as the cost of living increases, it is equally important to look at the expenses that go into hosting such an event.”

Executive Director of the Careers Expo, Abed Erastus thanked Sanlam Investment Management for its committed and ongoing support. “We’ would like to thank Sanlam Investment Management Namibia for their ongoing support for not only the Sanlam Speakers Hall, but for the entire event and our various programmes. We are so much more grateful that they have seen the increasing expenses to deliver this event not only in Windhoek but also in other towns.”
“In March this year, we hosted the Careers Expo: Ongwediva for the first time which proved to be a great hit amongst learners from the northern regions. The Careers Expo also boosted its scholarship programme aimed at providing financial assistance to talented yet disadvantaged learners. This year more scholarships were awarded as well as the continuation of the mentorship and training programme that will support students to learn the skills needed to stand out in the job market. At the sponsorship ceremony, Ya Shiimi noted his company’s commitment in other focus areas as part of Sanlam’s Social Involvement.
“Sanlam Namibia Holdings’ four main focus areas of social investment aim to position the Group as socially responsible, as a valued investor in nation-building and a force behind the cultural transformation of the Group and the nation. Our four main focus areas include Health & Welfare, Empowerment & Entrepreneurship, Sport Development, and Education & Training.” he said.
He said investment in the right areas eventually reap rewards after some time. “As an institution that manages billions of dollars of investments on behalf of its clients, the company understands the responsibility and risks associated with investing.
We have definitely seen the Careers Expo go from strength to strength. If all of us as individuals and corporates stand together and support such initiatives, it is evident that our country will produce the best doctors, lawyers, actors/actresses, PRO’s, artists, scientists and the list goes on”, Shiimi said.
Shiimi confirmed that Sanlam Investment Management would continue to support such initiatives.
“We hope that by sharing in the lives of people and communities, such as these students that will attend the Careers Expo, we can meet the future needs of their potential.”
