“Where are the female taxi drivers? Where are the construction workers, or any of the many odd jobs that are generally considered to be male jobs?” he asked his startled audience.
Ngamane-Upi spoke at as the guest of the Economist Businesswomen Club and Mrs Ericah Shafudah, Namibian Businesswoman of the Year 2013, a networking breakfast earlier in April.
He is a consultant, facilitator and lay-counsellor on gender, media and relationship issues. He addressed the club members about “Opportunity Knocking: Namibian women’s role in development”.
He gave an insightful presentation on how women in Namibia could help develop the country and how to appreciate oneself as a woman. The Economist Businesswomen Club provides a forum for exchanging ideas and expertise through a series of regular breakfast meetings held during the course of the year. Through planned networking, it aims to encourage personal development and management skills of members and to advance the standing and power of women.
