Good relations

Namibia Breweries and the Namibia Food and Allied Workers’ Union (NAFAU) signed a recognition agreement this week in Windhoek. According to Terence Makari, human capital manager at Namibia JA-BrewBreweries, the amendment of the recognition agreement was aimed at aligning the existing agreement to the current business trends and environment as well as to the Labour Act (No.11) of 2007. The two parties will continue to amend the agreement when the need arises to remain relevant to prevailing labour market environments, said Joseph Shikongo, deputy general secretary of NAFAU. NAFAU has been identified as the company’s exclusive bargaining agent for employees within the bargaining unit since 2000.
