SADC Annual Quality Award winners announced

The fourth SADC Annual Quality Awards presentation ceremony was held on 19 March at the Grandpalm Hotel in Gaborone, Botswana. The aim of the SADC Annual Quality Award competition is to recognise and appreciate organisations and individuals contributing to quality advancement in all sectors of industry.

The SADC Annual Quality Awards Procedure was approved by the SADC Committee of Ministers of Trade (CMT) in 2009, and it was implemented in 2011. The Awards Presentation Ceremony was graced with the presence of SADC Executive Secretary Dr Stergomena Lawrence Tax. In her speech she indicated that the SADC Annual Quality Awards provides SADC with a platform and an opportunity to encourage local industries to be aware of quality issues.
The Award is divided into the following categories:
Category 1:Company of the year (Large Enterprise, Small and Medium Enterprise)
Category 2: Product of the year (Large Enterprise, Small and Medium Enterprise)
Category 3: Service of the year (Large enterprise, Small and Medium Enterprise)
Category 4: Exporter of the year (Large Enterprise, Small and Medium Enterprise)
Category 5: Individual Award The winning companies of the 2013/2014 competition are: FUNAE Fundo de Energia, a company from Mozambique, is the winner in the large enterprise company of the year category. Integrated Properties, a company from Zimbabwe, claimed the prize in the small and medium enterprise company of the year category. Hangana Seafood, a company from Namibia, won in the large enterprise product of the year category. The Avenues Clinic, a Zimbabwean company won in the large enterprise service of the year category, and Meatco Namibia won in the exporter of the year category.
