Namibia’s top archers continue to excel at the 64th Annual South African National Championships currently taking place at Marks Park Sports Club in Johannesburg.
On Wednesday, during the elimination rounds, the following medals were taken: Gold – Ilana Malan & Louw Nel (Mixed Team); Silver – Elisabeth Taljaard & Hendrik van Eeden (Cadet Mixed Team); Silver – Louw Nel & Francois Marais & Lesley Page (Compound Men); Silver – Hendrik Van Eeden & Sebastian Fechter & Jackson Engel (Compound Cadet Men).

The Mixed Team event was very interesting as Namibia had to shoot the semifinals against a strong mixed team from Germany – which they won – to shoot against South Africa in the Gold Medal Match, which was won by Namibia again. Xander Reddig (Recurve Cadet Men) netted Gold, HannĂ© Snyman (Compound Girls u/13) also Gold, and Hendrik van Eeden (Compound Cadet Men) won Bronze. In the early qualifiers, Xander Reddig shot a personal best 640—his second qualifying score in preparation for the 2014 Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. Elimination rounds commenced on 02 April. The Archery Association of Namibia (AAN) is grateful to TrenTyre and Auto City Namibia for their continued support and sponsorship.
