Members of five Interact Clubs, sponsored by local Rotarians, recently came together for the fifth Interact Conference when the Winndhoek Interacters from the three clubs sponsored by Rotary Club Windhoek and the one of Auas Rotary Club were joined by the club of Otjiwarongo Secondary School at Interact Conference 2014.
It was the fifth year in a row that Rotary Club Windhoek organized and hosted an Interact Conference for Namibian Interact Clubs. The first one took place in March 2010.
Over the years it has become a highlight on the annual calendar of local Interact clubs.
In a hectic day jam-packed with interesting talks, entertainment and opportunities to hear about the community service programmes and projects run by the Interact clubs in Windhoek and  Otjiwarongo, the more than 100 youngsters learned a lot, shared experiences and had fun. They were treated by the Rotarians and Link Teachers from the respective schools present.

The Interact Conference programme included presentations by Lizette Ferris of Utani Childline-Lifeline Radio and Angelo Helmut, the business development manager at a Windhoekhardware and building material supplier. While Interact club presidents, secretaries and treasurers took part in leadership training, other Interacters demonstrated their talents in a competition judged by Namibian artists Mushe and Freeda. The singers were joined by upcoming fashion designer, Hem Matsi and ICT entrepreneur Regina Shikongo. Although the Interact clubs from Walvis Bay and Swakopmund could not attend due to transports problems they said they will be back at next year’s event in March 2015. The 2015 Annual Interact Conference will be a much bigger event as Rotary Club Windhoek plans to charter Interact clubs at two more high schools in Windhoek during this year.
