Nedbank Cycle Challenge a success

The 29th edition of The Nedbank Road Challenge held on 23 February marked yet another successful event where it saw cyclists endure a route from Nedbank Main Branch in Independence Avenue as the starting point and finishing off at Windhoek Gymnasium.
The Nedbank Road Challenge also hosted the Nedbank Kidz Challenge and the Nedbank MTB Challenge, which were held a day before and the previous weekend respectively. For the Nedbank Road 100km men, Costa Seibeb came 1st with a time of 2:28:05, Loto Petrust 2nd with a time of 2:28:32 and Pascal Marggraff 3rd with a time of 2:28:32 and for the women Irene Steyn came 1st with a time of 2:40:19, Michelle Vorster 2nd with a time of 2:42:35 and Heletje Van Staden 3rd with a time of 2:47:23.

For 75km challenge in the men’s category, Joze Barth was 1st with a time of 2:00:44, Israel Alfred 2nd with a time of 2:00:44 and Thorsten Horenburg 3rd with a time of 2:00:45.and in the women’s category,  Lerike Burger was 1st with a time of 2;09:04, Mandy Huysame 2nd with a time of 2:13:51 and Bernadette Swartz came 3rd  with a time of 2:26:39.
In the last event which was the 35 km stretch in the men’s category, Shapange Afrikaner came 1st with a time of 1:04:26 followed by Johan du Plessis with an equally impressive time of 1:04:29 and Andre Louw 3rd  place with a time of 1:04:29. The women’s category saw Anne Cassim set an impressive 1st    place time of 1:06:36 followed by, Selma Mawanu in 2nd with a time of 1:12:14 and Michell Lamprec 3rd with a time of 1:14:12.
For the Kidz event where youngsters from ten years and younger could participate, Owen Bother came  1st with a time of 0:53:12 and Jordan Barrow 2nd with a time of 0:53:47. For the girls, Elandri Kruger was 1st with a time of 1:06:22 and Marcel Vermeulen 2nd with a time of 1:06:22.
