Prominent businessman Johnny Johnson Doeseb, also known as JJD, has honoured 10 of the best performing Grade 12 students in the Erongo region. The students each received certificates and N$10,000 for their excellence in the Grade 12 examinations. The award ceremony took place at the Walvis Bay Municipality Hall and was attended by the Governor of the Erongo Region, Hon Cleophas  Mutjavikua.
Doeseb thanked the students and their parents for making the region proud with such excellent results. “Education is important because it opens many doors which would otherwise have stayed closed for you, but successfully finishing Grade 12 is just phase one and therefore furthering your education that best suits your skills and competencies must now be the next step”, he said.

Doeseb also advised the students that even when they have completed university, it will never guarantee them a job or success in the labour market, because “good academic results must be accompanied by a winning attitude and professionalism otherwise you will join the lot of educated fools with degrees but no skills, and you should guard against that at all times” he said adding “I am therefore giving each of you an amount of N$10,000 on condition that you register at any tertiary institution.”
The 10 top performers are Quinton Gertze, Da Palm Secondary, Paulina Shikongo, Namib High, Khadisjah Goses, Coastal High, Lusianu Daniel, Kuisebmond High, Priscilla Masule, Westside High, Florian Mosich, Namib High, Nienke Heyman, Kuisebmond High, Naemi Hangula, Coastal High, Hileni Walenga, Kuisebmond High and Thomas Fillemon, also from Kuisebmond High.
