A passion for teaching

YA-mary1Marybeth Gallagher, a qualified teacher and journalist, has given up a life of luxury in her native America to teach underprivileged children in Namibia. Gallagher started the Bernard Nordkamp Centre in Katutura six years ago and offers about 140 children free Math and English classes. Since enrolling at the centre, the children have improved their grades considerably. “Most of these kids could not read and were passing with E symbols but today they can read and they are passing with flying colours,” Gallagher said proudly.
