Complementing the new extensive Town Square shopping centre in Otjiwarongo, is a large roofed and fenced vendor cluster, constructed by the developers of Town Square, the Safland property group. The vendor area is located next to Town Square, enabling Otjiwarongo informal vendors to benefit from the same traffic that passes through the mall on a daily basis. At a recent ceremony to mark the opening of the vendor cluster, Otjiwarongo mayor, Her Worship Hilda Jesaja expressed her council’s gratitude towards Safland and the Frontier Property Trust for the construction and subsequent donation of the new informal vendor area to the municipality.

Safland constructed and donated a new under-roof vendor area with 20 stalls adjacent to the newly developed and modern Town Square shopping centre.  The mayor told vendors that the local council will manage all applications and requested future traders to maximise this opportunity to trade their goods to complement Town Square’s retailers and to create new job opportunities. Safland CEO, Kallie van der Merwe thanked both the mayor and the acting CEO Mr. Ismael, for the town council’s commitment during the design and construction phase of the project. He said this cooperation should be seen as a good example by other town councils. He also thanked the people of Otjiwarongo for their wonderful support to the new Town Square shopping centre.
