The American Thanksgiving came to Otavi when over 450 pensioners were treated to a traditional Thanksgiving lunch earlier in December. Thanksgiving is celebrated in the Autumn in the USA and Canada.
The event was organized and sponsored by International Facilities Services (IFS) and B2Gold Namibia’s CSR Department, in association with the Otavi Town Council and the Otavi Constituency Office.
IFS is the housekeeping and catering contractor for the B2Gold Otjikoto project. Additional support was given by 24 community volunteers who contributed to making the day a success.
The pensioners were hosted in the Otavi Community Hall, with Mayor Markus Damaseb leading the festivities.
Bill Lytle, Managing Director of B2Gold Namibia thanked the elderly for the unique contribution they make to communities everywhere. In addition to the complementary lunch, guests also went home with a grocery gift box to sustain them during the Festive Season.
